Mascagni, Sandra Hitt

Sandra Hitt Mascagni, 67, passed to Heaven on Tuesday, May 6, 2008, with her long time companion, Bobbie Ivey by her side. Family and friends had been with Sandra throughout the day, each giving testimony to what a wonderful, giving Christian she was.

Sandra was born July 3, 1940, in Monroe, Louisiana, growing up in Greenville, Mississippi, Sandra stated many times she had an "awesome" childhood, being raised by her parents, Bruce and Dot Hitt. Childhood (life) friends described Sandra as being loyal and faithful, leading her life in such a way that was pleasing to God. Sandra endured cancer seven times during her life, never complaining, through the horrific times which she suffered. She inspired others through her never-ending faith.

Sandra was a very accomplished dancer, having been taught by Frances Hickman throughout her life, an athlete and a great musician. She was Ms. Greenville in 1958, a member of Kappa Delta Sorority at Southern Miss, a Dixie Darling, marching in the Southern Miss Homecoming games for the past 16 years, captain for two years, member of the Dixie Darling Alumina Association, cheerleader at Greenville High, Homecoming maid.

Sandra was very instrumental in the development of young girls at Southern Charm, school of modeling, which she owned, guiding them into various pageants, to include Miss Greenville and Miss Mississippi.

Sandra is survived by her life companion, Bobbie Ivey of Lake Village, AR; her son, Todd Mascagni of Lena, Mississippi, daughter-in-law, Terry; grandsons, Garrett and Joshua; sister, Chere Stegall of Jackson; extended family and a host of loving friends, deceased parents, Bruce (Big) Hitt and Dot Hitt, and brother, Bruce Hitt, Jr.

Please remember San for her courage, her Christian values and her love for others.

Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. yesterday at Bishop Funeral Home in Lake Village. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. today at Lakeside United Methodist Church with Rev. Todd-Paul Taulbee officiating.
